This dense nature has given blankets the ability to hold in as much heat as possible, giving your attic all the warmth it needs. If you put the right number of these guys in your attic vents, you will definitely get your desired results. Loose-fill insulation This insulation method comprises of materials like mineral wool or fiberglass cellulose and one major difference that sets it apart from blankets is the fact that it isn’t particularly defined in size. It’s just made of tiny bits of foam, sprayed on top of existing insulation. This insulation method requires a machine that would help blow wool effectively unto vents. The preferable material to use for a loose-fill insulation is cellulose; note that these materials could get moldy if exposed to moisture. Sprayed foam This type of insulation is specially made with polyurethane, and it has two forms; open-cell foams and closed cell foams. What differentiates these two types of sprayed foam is the content of each type. Open-cell foam is filled with air which gives it a sponge-like texture while closed-cell foams are filled with a kind of gas which gives it the ability to not just insulate, but also protect from moisture vapor. Due to the closed-cell foam’s dual-purpose function, it’s worth a little more than an open-cell, it’s up to you to choose. Foamboard Unlike blankets, foam boards are a rigid set of insulating boards and can be used on pretty much any part of the house.
